White Shark Adventures’ top priority is to raise awareness, helping to change people’s attitude towards these animals and strengthen the cause of protection and preservation of White sharks through detailed information and education. White sharks are on the verge of facing extinction in certain areas. Although raising awareness through campaigns and other media orientated approaches is an important tool, it cannot match the on-sight education value while watching and observing the White shark in their natural surroundings

Brian McFarlane is a professional diver and skipper and has made a living from the sea his whole life. He has become a local legend with his fascinating tales about the sea and underwater experiences.
During the time when Great White Shark fishing was allowed, Brian caught 33 Great Whites, some weighing more than 1 ton. Today, he dearly regrets this and now spends his time and efforts in finding the great beasts to be observed and photographed at close range. Brian has worked with the Great whites for eight years, and has only had 1 non-sighting day in the last 18 months.

The waters around Shark Alley are his territory, and he knows them well.

Mike is world renown for his incredible interactions with great white sharks - outside of the cage! Over 10 years of experience observing great white sharks has given him a unique insight into their behaviour.

In 1994 Michael began working as a skipper during the early days of the great white shark cage diving industry. By 2001 he bought the 12m/ 42ft Lee cat 'Barracuda' and launched Shark Diving Unlimited!

It was in 1998 that Mike first ventured outside of the cage. Having spent his youth spear fishing the area he knew the reefs well, and had already encountered great white sharks!

African Shark EcoventuresAfrican Shark Eco Charters is the original Great White Shark operation in False Bay made famous by our discovery and documentation of breaching great white sharks at Seal Island. Seal Island is the filming location of the Discovery Channel documentary "Air Jaws" and several other BBC and National Geographic productions. The area is as pristine as the first day we discovered it and we are proud to offer trips that are based almost entirely on natural observation.
